1. Will Spector Server work on my servers?

   Yes, as long as you are running any edition of Windows Server^® 2008 (including 64-bit), Windows Server 2003, Windows Essential Business Server, or Windows Small Business Server.

2. How much disk space does Spector Server take?

   The answer depends on many factors, such as how frequently you set Spector Server to record screen snapshots, whether you record in full color or 4-bit grayscale, and how many days you allow Spector Server to record before automatically deleting recordings. Also, the amount of disk space needed depends upon how frequently the server console is opened. Using the default settings, Spector Server will use up to 500 Megabytes for the program and recording data files.

3. Will Spector Server affect the performance of my database, email, web, or file server?

   No, Spector Server is only loaded and executed when an administrator accesses the server console. At all other times, Spector Server is not running, so it cannot impact the performance of your servers.

4. Does Spector Server work with a remote desktop connection?

   Yes, Spector Server will allow for the monitoring activities of remote desktop sessions to the Windows Server desktop, but Spector Server is not licensed for monitoring the virtualization of computer desktops and applications to users on your network. Spector 360 or Spector CNE should be purchased for the monitoring of virtual computer desktops on a Windows Terminal Server.

5. Am I allowed to install this software on anybody's computer?

   No, Spector Server can only be installed on server-class operating systems.

6. Should I inform my IT Staff that they are being monitored?

   Yes, the SpectorSoft software license agreement requires that you inform anyone accessing the monitored server that their administrator session on the computer will be recorded. We've provided an optional pop-up dialog box with an appropriate message.

7. Can Spector Server be circumvented?

   Spector Server prevents unauthorized users from tampering with its recording software by employing Stealth Technology. When installed in Stealth Mode, Spector Server does not show up as an icon, does not appear in the Windows system tray, does not appear in Windows Programs, does not show up in the Windows task list, cannot be uninstalled without the Spector Server password which YOU specify, and Spector Server does not slow down the operation of the computer it is recording, so nobody will know it's been installed.

8. Does Spector Server come with a money-back guarantee?

   If Spector Server does not perform as advertised, please notify us within 72 hours of purchase. Our customer support staff is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and we will do our very best to make sure the product performs properly. If you have notified us within 72 hours of purchase, and we are unable to resolve the issue within 3 days of your notifying us, we will refund your purchase price in FULL.

9. How easy is Spector Server to install and use?

   We have designed Spector Server to be very easy to install and use. Installation should take less than two minutes, and Spector Server automatically begins recording the next time someone accesses the server console. If you want to customize what Spector Server records and for how long the recordings are kept, then you can easily change the default settings.

10. I would like to install Spector Server on several servers. Is this possible?
